View Membership BenefitsAdvisor Perspectives, ranked as the most-read eNewsletter for financial advisors by Erdos & Morgan “FAMOUS” study in 2019 and 2020, has announced its Venerated Voices™ awards for commentaries published in Q3 2021. Rankings were issued in four categories (minimum of four posts annually): The Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Firm and Author, the Top 10 Venerated Voices™ by Commentary, and the Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Firm and Author (minimum 12 posts annually).
The first three categories require a minimum of one post quarterly and the fourth requires three or more posts.
The most popular topics in Q3 2021 among all commentaries were related to high equity valuations, the potential for a market crash, and whether inflation will be transitory or long-lasting.
Leading the Top 25 Venerated Voices™ by Firm category was Hussman Funds of Maryland, followed by Mauldin Economics of Dallas. In third place was GMO of Boston.
Among individual commentators, the most-widely read was Ben Inker of GMO. In second place was John Hussman of Hussman Funds, followed by John Mauldin of Mauldin Economics in third place.
The most-widely read commentary of Q3 2021, published on August 20, was When Is The Next Bear Market? 3-Things Will Tell You by Lance Roberts of Real Investment Advice. Roberts detailed three indicators to watch that will help determine the next recession or bear market. These included changes in the yield curve, Fed tapering, and Fed rate hikes. He confirmed that no recession is looming.
Here's Why the US May Have a Housing Boom for the Next 5 Years took second place, written by the team at Knowledge Leaders Capital (KLC) and published on August 2. KLC cited the massive housing supply shortage as the main culprit for the acceleration in housing prices over the last decade and the last year. Much of this can be blamed on the great recession, when homebuilders cut construction of new homes almost in half. The only solution? Build more.
In third place was The Case For Deflation, by Chris Yates of Archeron, published on July 8. Yates used four main deflationary forces for his argument: debt, demographics, globalization, and technology. He stated that debt is deflationary by nature and the return on debt is at its lowest levels in over 70 years. In terms of demographics, the aging population and thus the labor force participation rate is an ongoing problem that will prevent inflation. Yates claimed that technology and globalization are also inherently deflationary.
Advisor Perspectives’ website attracts over 210,000 unique visitors per month, virtually all of them financial advisors serving high- and ultra-high net worth individuals. The company publishes economic and market commentaries submitted by fund companies, advisors and independent research firms. In Q3 2021, almost 400 such commentaries were published and made available through a daily newsletter, Research Perspectives, which the company emails to its subscribers.
Venerated Voices™ rankings were determined by the number of unique readers of each commentary, using data provided electronically by the third-party web analytics service Google Analytics. The data were normalized using the average score per month or quarter (in the case of annual rankings). For the annual awards for the firm and author, a minimum of three commentaries must have been submitted during the year. Any participant is eligible to receive a quarterly award. Each firm and author is assigned a relative score based on unique pageviews, with a score of 100 equal to average quarterly readership.
Advisor Perspectives was founded in 2007 and is based in Lexington, Massachusetts. In addition to Research Perspectives, it publishes a widely read weekly newsletter, Advisor Perspectives, which contains original articles on the markets, the economy and practice management.
Advisor Perspectives will continue providing quarterly updates to its rankings, as well as issuing annual Venerated Voices™ awards.
