Meta, Microsoft Face Renewed Unease Over AI Spending: US Earnings Week Ahead

Microsoft Corp., Meta Platforms Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. face renewed investor anxiety over their debt-fueled capital expenditure plans after Alphabet Inc. raised the upper end of its spending forecast this year by as much as $15 billion.

This week’s earnings calls will no doubt be dominated by discussion on whether surging AI investment will generate sufficient returns against a still unsettled geopolitical backdrop. Among the S&P 500 companies that have reported earnings so far, more have raised their outlooks than maintained or cut them, Bloomberg Intelligence data shows.
