About Our Guest

Kezia Samuel is vice president of investment consulting at AssetMark. She is responsible for providing investment consulting to guide advisors through building portfolios on the AssetMark platform, including selecting the right investment managers, providing objective risk-based analysis, research and insights. She is also responsible for writing commentary on market performance and current events.

Kezia has over 20 years' experience and joined AssetMark through the acquisition of Global Financial Partners (GFPC) in 2019. At GFPC, Kezia held the role of chief portfolio strategist. Prior to GFPC Kezia spent three years as a senior portfolio strategist at Jackson National, four years as an investment team lead for JP Morgan's private bank and eight years as a derivatives trader for the investment bank at JP Morgan.

Kezia holds a BS in chemistry and computer science from Fordham University. She holds the Chartered Alternatives Investment Analyst (CAIA) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations.

Rico Casares is vice president and director, business consulting at AssetMark. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. During that time, Rico has been responsible for the supervision and growth of over 200 offices of supervisory jurisdiction throughout the Southeast at one of the largest independent broker-dealers in the country, the management of one of the largest and most successful title insurance agencies in the state of Florida, the training of insurance agents on the sale of financial services products at one of the country’s largest privately held insurance companies, and the supervision of an advisor and client services department at one of the largest independent broker-dealers in the country.

Since joining AssetMark as a business consultant, Rico has worked with independent financial advisors and AssetMark’s regional consultants throughout the South. He shares his expertise and experience with advisors who have achieved platinum status on AssetMark’s platform. Rico engages with advisors to understand their businesses and provide insights on a variety of areas including human capital, technology, growth through acquisition and the eventual transition of their businesses.

Rico earned a bachelor of science degree in finance from the University of South Florida and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He is also a Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter and holds Series 7, 24, and 63 securities licenses.
