No strategy has collected more assets over the last five years than investing based on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. Virtually every major asset management firm has stepped up their commitment to ESG, along with introducing new funds to meet client demand. But not all ESG products are the same. They vary along important dimensions, such which metrics they use for screening out companies and industries. Here to talk with me today are two people who have been at the forefront of the ESG movement.

Jake Walko is the director of ESG investing & global investment stewardship at Thornburg Investment Management, furthering the adoption of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations across Thornburg’s full product suite.
Lei Wang is portfolio manager and managing director for Thornburg Investment Management. He joined Thornburg in 2004 as associate portfolio manager and was promoted to portfolio manager in 2006. He manages the Thornburg Better World International Fund (TBWIX), an five-and-a-half-year-old ESG strategy with $225 million in assets.
