About the Episode

Yields have declined sharply over the course of the year. The 10-year yield has dropped about 100 basis points; the 30-year about 80 basis points; and short-term rates are down about 50 basis points. Can rates go any lower? How should advisors position their clients in this environment?

Our guest today is Lon Erickson. Lon Erickson has been managing bond portfolios for over 20 years. He is a portfolio manager for Thornburg Investment Management. He joined Thornburg in 2008 and was made portfolio manager and managing director in 2010. In addition to his institutional management responsibilities, Lon manages four mutual funds: the Low Duration Income Fund, Limited Term U.S. Government Fund, Limited Term Income Fund and the Strategic Income Fund.
