Gas prices were down for a second straight week, falling to a one-month low. As of April 21st, the price of regular and premium gas were each down 3 cents from the previous week. According to GasBuddy.com, California has the highest average price for regular at $4.77 and Oklahoma has the cheapest at $2.65.
Currently, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stands at $3.14 with premium gasoline averaging $4.07 per gallon. One year ago, regular gas was priced at $3.67 per gallon, while premium gas was at $4.57 per gallon.
Gas Prices: Inflation-Adjusted Reality
The volatility in crude oil and gasoline prices has been clearly reflected in recent years in both the consumer price index (CPI) and personal consumption expenditures (PCE). West Texas Intermediate Oil
This next chart shows the West Texas light crude oil price over the past 8 months. As of April 21st, WTIC end-of-day spot price for crude oil closed at $63.08, up 2.5% from the previous week but still near its lowest level in the past four years.
