As of January 13th, the price of regular and premium gas were unchanged from the previous week. According to GasBuddy.com, Hawaii has the highest average price for regular at $4.50 and Oklahoma has the cheapest at $2.53.
Currently, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stands at $3.04 with premium gasoline averaging $3.94 per gallon. One year ago, regular gas was priced at $3.06 per gallon, while premium gas was at $3.95 per gallon.
The next chart is a monthly chart overlay of West Texas light crude, Brent crude, and unleaded gasoline end-of-day spot prices.
This next chart shows the WTIC price over the past 8 months. As of January 13th, the WTIC end-of-day spot price for crude oil closed at $77.30, up 5.1% from last week. This marks the third straight weekly increase and the highest level in four months.
