There is a lot of talk around improving diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) in our profession. It’s nice to see that talk coupled with actions that create the outcomes that are so needed.

One example of firms taking action was the creation of scholarships to advance diverse individuals in their quest for training and advanced education.

The Financial Alliance for Racial Equity (FARE) and the CFP Board Center for Planning collaborated on one such scholarship, Financial Alliance for Racial Equity CFP® Certification Diversity Scholarship, which was created to financially assist seven Black and African American candidates on their journey to becoming a certified CFP® professional.

The scholarship was created to ease the financial burden diverse students and professionals experience when seeking additional certifications as they advance in the financial planning profession by growing the next generation of diverse financial services professionals.
