Harvard Plans Full In-Classroom Instruction for Fall Semester

Harvard students will return to the classroom full time and campus housing will go back to its usual density after more than a year of remote learning because of the pandemic.

The school in Cambridge, Massachusetts, is expecting the largest entering class in its history, Harvard said Tuesday in a statement on its website. All enrolled students, who must be vaccinated to attend, can expect full campus access, which includes libraries, archives, museums and research facilities.

“I am thrilled to be able say the two words that I’ve been dying to say since last March: Welcome back,” the dean of Harvard’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Claudine Gay, said in a video that accompanied the announcement.

The eight-member Ivy League is also expected to announce the resumption of fall sports competition, and Harvard Athletics will return to regular access.
