A Good Sign Coming from the Broadest Index?

When it comes to portfolio construction, investors should give the Wilshire 5000 a moment to see how it's doing, since it's the broadest of all indexes.

The Wilshire 5000 has been steadily moving higher and is now at the same pre-financial crisis levels. A small gain would put it into new all-time high territory.

A breakout would be a good sign for two reasons: It would reflect broad market strength and would eliminate the potential for a double top in this important index.
