Thoughts at the End of the Day

Market shocks, like Lehman's bankruptcy, often disrupt people from their long-term investment plans. There has been some heavy selling today, as some investors just want out in order to preserve capital. This kind of indiscriminant selling makes very little sense from a long-term investment perspective. It can only make sense if the market declines sharply from current levels and these investors are lucky enough to time their purchases so they buy back in before the market starts to recover. Good companies will survive this period of turmoil and will do well under reduced competitive positions.

We always review our holdings in light of new market developments. We believe we hold good positions and expect these companies to thrive over time. Market news and reaction remains very fluid and we will make adjustments if and when we think they are appropriate.
